About The Founder

A Denver metro-area resident since 2017 and a proud Polish-American Chicago native, Cathren Kayce began her career in sales at PVS Corporate Services, where she sold corporate video services to major clients like McDonald’s Corporation and Midas International. When PVS was acquired by Allied Vaughn, she wanted to explore her creative side and shifted into marketing by joining Marcus Evans Summits in downtown Chicago as a Marketing Manager. Her innovative campaigns quickly gained recognition from the CEO and company leadership, helping to drive record-breaking attendance at flagship events like the HR and eLearning Summits.

Driven by her passion for both sales and marketing, Cathren soon launched her own consulting business—securing clients such as the Corporate Learning Institute and eDoc Communications, both suppliers to Marcus Evans.

“Marketing and sales have always been in my blood. I’ve always believed they should work hand-in-hand—but in many businesses, they just don’t.”

Well ahead of her time, Cathren operated her consulting business as a solo “Interim Marketing Manager” long before the term was widely understood, offering remote strategy and implementation when remote work was still rare. Her business was also a WBENC Certified WBE. This is where she learned first-hand, that being an expert at what you do, doesn't always mean you understand how to run a business.

Her experience also includes copywriting for Wolters Kluwer, as well as marketing professional services firms including attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors, business coaches and interim CEOs.

Later, Cathren took on a full-time consulting role with a Chicagoland-based trades business owned and operated by a career firefighter. Though the business had a solid reputation, its backend operations were in disarray—no website, no CRM, and no SOPs. Cathren overhauled every part of the operation, from systems to branding to day-to-day logistics. Within the first two years, revenue had increased by 300%.

“Knowing your craft is one thing. Running a business is another.”

Cathren went on to work with the company for six years, eventually partnering with the owner to co-found Firefighter Knowledge—a training company that served fire departments, municipalities, and fire service educators throughout the U.S. and Canada. As President, she helped build and sell a respected training product used nationwide.

“That experience taught me how to build strong business partnerships and sell into specialized industries. I’m now in the process of reviving and evolving some of the original concepts I developed with Firefighter Knowledge.”

Cathren later served as a Senior Small Business Consultant with the Aurora-South Metro Small Business Development Center, supporting Colorado entrepreneurs with one-on-one guidance and practical tools. She also returned briefly to outside sales with The Home Depot, where she ranked second in sales her first month—among a competitive, mostly male team.

Ultimately, entrepreneurship called her back. She now focuses her work on marketing, sales and operations management for small businesses.

Cathren holds a BA in Television Production from Columbia College Chicago, an active Real Estate Brokers License in the state of Illinois, and certifications in Trade Show Marketing (CTSM) from EXHIBITOR and Tech Sales Training from Springboard in San Francisco.

“I’ve always had a passion for homes, buildings, and construction. I naturally gravitate toward companies in engineering, architecture, the trades, real estate and companies in alignment with those industries.”

In 2020 Cathren founded Manager & Woo, Ltd to assist Colorado small business owners—get organized, grow, and succeed. Her consulting, implementation and management services focuses on three essential pillars:

1.) Marketing
2.) Sales and;
3.) Operations

Cathren believes that when one part of the business is off, the others suffer—and that real success happens when everything runs in sync.
